Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1953, I majored in European History at Harvard College before studying at Marburg University and Stuttgart University in Germany. My Candidata Magisterii is from the University of Oslo. At the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, I studied Waldorf Education.
After eighteen years of teaching in Oslo, I worked for McKinsey & Company as Manager of Professional Development and at Opera Software.
While teaching at the Waldorf School in Princeton, New Jersey, I realized the importance of local, national, and world history in raising awareness of social realities for teenagers. Inspired by Scranton's well-documented history over 250 years, I covered the history of the entire valley. This led to studying the service of valley citizens in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and WWII.
While teaching future teachers in Beijing seven times, I compared Chinese history with European History. There I discovered the relationship between the Double Trade Triangles across the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The triangles were driven by colonization on all continents and evolved into financial centers in New York, London, and Hong Kong. In 2009, I returned to Oslo to teach teenagers for ten more years.
